Last night around 11:30, I remembered I hadn't posted for the day. I was hanging out with my son and one of his old friends -- a young man I often refer to as my fourth son -- and I just decided to let it go. I could have excused myself and kept up my streak, but I was enjoying their company and our conversation too much. We -- mostly my son and granddaughters -- wrote and sang songs while my son and his friend played guitar. We ironed out details of tomorrow's party.
Truly, I hate to miss posting. But I don't get a whole lot of time to spend with my oldest son, so I want to savor every minute. And on that note, I'm getting back to making one of his favorite foods, macaroni salad, for the birthday party. My guess is that not all of it will last until party time, but I don't think the five- and six-year-olds will care too much about missing out on that.
