Safety in Numbers

Of course I'm going to write about the storm again. It's hard to think about anything else. We're lucky to have power still this morning, and other than a few wind gusts and some rain, nothing is happening yet. Here, at least. The real stuff is supposed to hit us around noon and get steadily worse throughout the day. I'm really glad my friend came over. It isn't so much an issue of physical safety, but there's a lot to be said for having a psychological outlet too. That's easier with another person. I think if I were sitting here alone I'd be worrying more. We went out for a ride yesterday afternoon (she posted a video to Facebook of our journey, which was truly nothing exciting) and again last night (same thing). Our area is like a ghost town. Even the fast food restaurants are boarded up and shut down. We did find a wing place that was open; she was craving a burger. My stomach is messed up -- from a combination of too much coffee and some stress, no doubt -- so I didn't want anything.

We're making the best of it, and that will be tested later when it all gets worse. If we have to spend several (or more) hours in my bedroom closet, it might not be so funny and lighthearted! I'm glad I have a safe place to go within my house (which is in a safe spot to start with). Okay, sorry this isn't more interesting but it's a bit of a stressful time. See you on the other side!
