Tuesdays with Mazie

Since I have been teaching a Monday night class, Tuesdays are sort of my Saturdays. Teaching one night a week may not seem like a big deal, but especially because it is a hybrid class most of the work (or at least my work) takes place outside of class. In my usual procrastinating way, I often wait until Sunday and Monday to do most of my grading, taking care of the other online work during the rest of the week. But not on Tuesdays. Tuesdays are my days of rest, and today I've been making the most of it. (Next week, and for the following six weeks, my "Saturdays" will be Wednesdays; my new class is on Tuesdays.)

I started off with a full head of steam, getting rid of stuff left and right, vacuuming under things I haven't moved in months (or maybe, in some cases, years). I sorted yarn, got rid of papers and other junk, and filled another donation bag. In between, I played music on Youtube and danced around the living room. The little dog ran; the dancing and singing at the top of my lungs scared her away, and really no one can blame her.

As my energy waned, I turned on the television and binge-watched Fugitive Task Force (I'm on the eighteenth episode now) while Mazie alternately laid her head in my lap and tucked it under my leg. She was having a nice snuggle time and I won't lie -- I enjoyed it too. The rain was pouring down -- again -- and the day was dreary, which made it perfect for not doing much of anything. This laziness is a luxury I usually don't let myself indulge in, and I guess it hasn't been a day of total sloth. I did get a lot done this morning, and even while we were watching the U.S. Marshalls catch fugitives I was sorting and cleaning. Tonight my students are turning in (online) their research papers, and over the next few days I'll be grading those and entering final grades. Next week it will be back to the grind (prep, teach, grade, score online essays, grade some more, etc.), and after that summer session I'll have about three days until the fall semester starts. It's been nice to have a non-work, play with my dog, clean my house kind of day.
