In Jacksonville in June, it's hot pretty much all the time -- no surprise there. I imagine the same is generally true in Orlando, but in the few days I've been here the evenings have been gorgeous. The heat has built throughout the morning and early afternoon -- into the mid to high nineties -- until it explodes into thunderstorms with slamming rain. Unfortunately, I was driving in today's storms, which I still find unnerving even after all my years in Florida. But when the storms have ended, the temperature has been ten to twenty degrees lower and the humidity also much lower. Right now, the temperature is in the mid seventies and there is a gentle breeze blowing. I've been sitting on my balcony for the past half-hour or so (ever since my son left to go back to his apartment), watching the trees and people below. I'm on the fourth floor, so I don't have a view of the city or anything that vast, but I can see people walking around doing other things. I really enjoy people watching.
Traveling on my own never bothers me; I quite like it. But if someone else is with me for part of the time, I become accustomed to that. Now that my son has left (his girlfriend spent yesterday with us but not last night or today) I am kind of lonely. We had a wonderful time today hanging out at the pool and then going to lunch. I love that we have such a good time together, and I was delighted when he wanted to take the day off just so he could spend the day with me.
I'm tired and don't have much else to say tonight. I'm leaving early in the morning to go back home, the earlier the better. Have a delightful evening, and I will see you tomorrow.
