My house is still not finished from the remodeling this summer. It is getting closer. There are a few reasons the work is ongoing, not the least of which is that I've decided to change things around in rooms other than those affected by the water damage. This weekend my friend came over both days; yesterday we got rid of a lot of junk and went to Home Depot to buy supplies. Today we put in a new range hood. The one I had before was crappy, but I haven't had one at all since June. The new one is gleaming white and super-efficient. And we managed to hook up the power to it without shorting out the whole house or electrocuting ourselves. After that, we put up new mini-blinds in the guestroom, the only room in the house with front-facing windows. The room looks so much better, from inside and from outside.
We had planned to seal the tile grout today too, so in an effort to get Mazie out of the house -- which makes everything much easier -- I made an appointment for her to be groomed and get her shots caught up. She was a few weeks late on a few things, and some were due soon. I dropped her off at 11:00 this morning, and went to pick her up around 3:30. She is so shiny and soft, and she smells fantastic. On the ride home, she buried her face in a sweater I had in the back seat. I think she was annoyed with me for leaving her for a few hours. She's pretty forgiving though. As soon as she got home, she ran out back to play with her little cat, and she wanted me to sit down so she could sit in my lap. I was still working, so she had to amuse herself a while longer. Now, as I write, she is sitting next to me on the chair. She has her head on my leg and her body pressed close. I don't think she cares what we did on the house, or that she had a great bath; she's just glad to be home.
