Looking for Rainbows

No, that isn't a cute metaphor for anything; I'm literally looking for rainbows. It's raining and the sun is out. Skies to the east are clear and blue, while to the west and south they're dark and gray. My mother and grandmother used to always say, when the sun was out during rain, "The devil is beating his wife." Over the years I've been able to decipher some of these weird sayings they had, but that one still doesn't make sense to me. I don't get the connection.

Anyway, whenever they would utter their crazy adage, I looked for rainbows. So on a hot February day, I'm thinking about my mother and grandmother -- and trying to find at least one rainbow. So far, nothing.
