Life Cycle of a Slug, Day 4

Gosh! I just can't stay awake! I know I am a broken record at this point, but it's a bit alarming. I did manage to meet my friend this morning for our daily walk, and it was somewhat comforting to find out that she's been wiped out since our vacation too. (She joined us for most of the trip.) I'm not especially concerned about it, but I am mad at myself for not getting more done. I rarely take a daytime nap, yet today was the fourth day in a row I've done so.

On the plus side, I've pulled out almost all the clothing from my room that I was trying to decide whether to keep or sell; I put it all in bags to donate. If I have to think that hard about whether to keep it, I don't need it. I also don't have to hold onto it until the right season to sell it for the pittance I might get. Now I just need to apply the same philosophy to the yarn in there. That's harder.

Overall I guess I haven't been as lazy as I feel I have. I reminded myself as I lay down on my sofa again earlier this afternoon that the world probably wouldn't end if I took a little time off. My friend and I came to the conclusion, as we did our several-mile beach walk, that while we had a great time with the kids (and she truly was a big help with my younger granddaughter in particular) we aren't used to and we're older. It's bound to take some time to bounce back. Honestly, I sometimes wonder how I was able to do so much when I was younger. Of course, I was younger, so that's part of it, but age aside working and raising kids and going to graduate school -- and later to all my kids' school activities -- isn't easy at any age. I suppose I was more committed then. I still do what I need to for my job; otherwise, there just isn't as much that seems important. Housecleaning is important but not especially urgent, so as long as my bathrooms and kitchen are clean, I have a hard time caring about the rest. Still, I'm off to make an effort. Vacuuming all my floors won't take long and isn't especially difficult. Mopping might be a different story.
