The weather here has been lousy for the past week or so. Granted, Jacksonville probably isn't a huge tourist destination, but I don't think it's been much better in other parts of Florida. Today started off nice -- temperatures in the low sixties, skies sunny. My son invited me to meet him for lunch, and by the time we got to our destination (a wonderful gem of an area called Riverside) it was raining. My youngest son is also in town, but he's been at his brother's house since he got here. I think that may have been why my middle son called to invite me out with the two of them and my middle son's girlfriend. The timing of his call was perfect; I was having an "emo" day (which probably explains why I'm feeling sad for the tourists).
Florida is not much fun when it rains. I think I mused recently that we Floridians are somewhat spoiled by the mostly-good weather we enjoy year 'round. Seeing the sun makes me happy, and maybe that's true for everyone. I don't really mind the rain, and the temperatures are still moderate so there's nothing to complain about there, but the gray skies -- day after day after day -- tend to get me down. If I had bought a plane ticket and paid for a hotel and got this crappy weather, I'd be pissed. Instead, I bought a house here, settled in for the long-term, and will just wait it out as cheerfully as possible. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Ah, well, it's a good day for finishing my craft projects.
