When we first moved to Florida, we had a friend (whom we had known up north) who was a software designer for Disney. We could get into Disneyworld free anytime we wanted. For the first year or two, this was exciting. But by the seventh or eight time we went, I think even the kids were thinking, "Disney again?!" Of course they never complained, and we usually had a good time. Those first two years were enough for me, and I haven't been back since -- until today.
The weather was beautiful -- a little warmer than in Jacksonville -- so I suggested to my son that we go to Disney Springs. This area used to be called Downtown Disney, and it's the only park you can get into without paying admission. There's also free parking. We didn't eat there (although we did stop for a refreshing beverage) and we didn't buy much, so the trip was quite inexpensive. We walked so much that I got in 10,000 steps for the first time since I started wearing my iFit. (By the way, my weight is down a total of thirteen pounds. I feel pretty good about that, especially since I managed to keep losing over the holidays.) We walked around the beautiful lake and browsed the stores. There were no long lines, no (or at least not many) screaming kids, and no crazy characters molesting us.
I like the rides, but the main parks are usually so packed and the admission fees so high that I find it hard to really enjoy myself. Today was the perfect balance of theme park and "regular" park. It was very nice.
