My neighborhood is eerily quiet today. Usually on Sunday afternoons I hear lawn equipment running and football fans yelling. My youngest son went with his brother to the Jaguars game, so I am home alone -- other than all the pets, a total of three cats and two dogs. My son's cats prefer to stay in the guest room. It isn't that they're anti-social. Well, one is; the other is the kitten, Pearl, who is still a bit skittish in unfamiliar surroundings. Angus is hanging in the living room with Mazie and me, and Sophia is hiding somewhere. She is not a big fan of guests, including those with four legs, and prefers to curl up in an undisclosed location. I've figured out a few of them, but she still has a few private places.
I have spent the day going back and forth between working, organizing, and crocheting. If I'm honest, I'll tell you it's been mostly the latter. I didn't have much to do for my classes tomorrow, and I did a better job than I'd thought of getting ready. It's too early to grade my Saturday papers; I'll do that on Tuesday or Thursday. My sons have been encouraging me to take a spa day, mani-pedis and massage. My joints have been killing me lately, maybe because of the cooler weather, and a massage might help. And I'm down for the "mani" but the "pedi" scares me a little. My foot still isn't completely healed, and I'm not sure I'm ready for anyone to touch it.
The weather has been just gorgeous, slightly cool with a great breeze and clear, sunny skies. I think I'm going to give myself the rest of the day off and sit on my porch with a crossword puzzle for a few hours. Some sun and fresh air can be hugely restorative. That will be a nice precursor to my last week of classes.
