Mazie doesn't know how to act around other cats. She and Sophia get along so well that she expects every other cat to want to engage in licking and rough-housing with her. Baby Cat (whose name is really Pearl, the kitten my son got a few months ago) does not enjoy Mazie's attempts at interaction. My son said he'd never heard her (Pearl) growl before last week, but she's been doing plenty of it since they got here. Sophia does not like Baby Cat, or more likely she doesn't like Baby Cat in her space, so she's been hissing. My son's other cat is quite anti-social and spends most of her time alone in the guest room. The dogs get along well, for the most part, although Angus isn't always patient with Mazie and her ideas of fun.
We've been trying to get the cats used to each other. (As I type this, my son is telling me from the other room that one of the cats just threw up. My house already smells like a zoo. In all fairness, I've been working most of the day and the house has been closed up; it isn't a permanent odor -- I hope.) I just heard one of the cats making angry noises, so I guess I should go help. Maybe the pets aren't quite ready to blend.
