No Time to Spare!

My son and granddaughters will be here on Saturday, staying for a week. I'm very excited; this happens once a year at most. I've been cleaning my garage and other areas of the house. My hope is to get everything out of the guest room that doesn't belong so I can put up the bunk bed I got (online at Wayfair for under $250!). My middle son is coming to help with that, but there's plenty else to do, and I'm also getting my prep done for my second class, which starts next Monday. I got so much done yesterday! Today I've had a hard time getting on with it. I have a killer headache -- not conducive to moving boxes and vacuuming -- but I'm running out of time to get it all ready.

My sons know as well as anyone that I'm not a neat freak, which is a nice way of saying that my house is clean but often a bit cluttered. I have a bad habit of throwing the mail on the living room table and not going through it. My intentions are good; I always plan to read the magazines and recycle the circulars, but the junk frequently piles up under the best circumstances, and especially after I virtually lived on the sofa while recovering from my foot surgery, it's worse than ever. (Never mind that I've been up and about for at least a month and a half.)

Since my head is pounding, my only goal for today is to clear the table -- organize the papers I need to save, pay bills, and throw out the junk. I know my family won't care if the house isn't perfect; I just want it to feel welcoming. I think I'll give that Advil a chance to kick in first. I still have three more days.
