The Reverse of That

I finally went to my mom's house today, and honestly I was concerned that my brother might have gotten rid of a few of the things I wanted to keep that I hadn't been able to fit in my car last trip. The opposite turned out to be the case; I'm sure he got some stuff out of there, but the house is still full. I don't know how I'm going to get rid of it all. One thing is certain: I'm not going to be able to get the house on the market in the next two weeks. I'm trying to strategize. My son said he thought that even if we threw everything away (other than the furniture my grandmother wanted him to have) we'd need to make at least thirty trips to the dump. He might be underestimating. My thought is that it would be better to contact the local garbage collection place and get one of those dumpster type containers. If we position it just right, we can throw the upstairs stuff off the deck and carry the basement crap out the back door.

It's all so overwhelming. At this rate I'm not sure we'll get the house on the market until fall. Maybe that will be okay. The mountain is beautiful when the leaves are changing, but keeping the house until then will be expensive. I'm tired of the whole thing. Tomorrow I will make some calls and try to find honest, dependable people to come up and help. I guess since there's no hurry, I'll open up the pool too. I'll hire someone to maintain the yard and pool after I leave and put the house up for sale as soon as possible. There's no sense driving myself any crazier than I already have with it.
