Frolicking Puppies

My granddog has been visiting for the past few days, and he and Mazie have been cavorting in the back yard. This would be delightful for them if my idiot neighbor didn't think that shooting fireworks at the fence was an appropriate way to deter their yips of happiness. I will say that fireworks are effective in getting dogs away from the fence, but I'm not sure it's ethical. Maybe ethical isn't the right word. I'm sure it's not nice. I would be less bothered by this if my neighbor's dog didn't slam himself into the fence and dig under it, getting Mazie and Jean-Claude all worked up. Jean went home a few minutes ago, his mom back from touring with the band, and Mazie is wiped out. Tonight there will be no more yips and, I hope, no more fireworks. If the neighbor keeps it up, I'm calling the homeowners' association. That's a little bit crazy.
