The weather -- on both ends -- held out for my son and granddaughter to fly home this morning. Their flight was on time leaving and twenty minutes early arriving. We were up so early that we got their things together with enough time to grab a macchiato on the way. It was hard to say goodbye, but we've spent a lot of time together -- a full month up north and nearly a week here. That made it a bit easier.
When they came to visit me in the summer (with my youngest granddaughter too; she didn't come this time), it rained almost every day they were here. This week was perfect, with the exception of yesterday, and they packed in so many fun activities. While I had to work some of the time they were here, I did have the chance to go with them to Fernandina (one of my local favorites) and out for a nice dinner at a great restaurant at Neptune Beach.
The weather where they live wasn't as bad as expected today, but there is some serious snow headed their way starting tomorrow night and going throughout the day Monday. I'm glad the worst of the weather stayed away while I was up there, and even more glad that they could stay with me and get a week of sunshine and warmth before their nasty winter really sets in.
