Have I mentioned that I really want to go home? I would imagine a lot of people in the DC area might be dreaming of going to Florida right about now. It's been chilly in Jacksonville, but I don't think the temperature has been below zero with the wind chill. I've barely left the house in the past week. On the plus side, I have cleaned nearly everything out of the house and I found my grandmother's ring I've been looking for on and off for over a year. It was in a cardboard box of junk in my mother's closet. It's valuable, but that's not why I cared about finding it. My grandfather gave it to my grandmother sometime in the 1930s. I could barely contain myself when I found it.
One week from tomorrow I will be somewhere on I-95 between here and home. One week from Monday I will wake up in my own bed for the first time in a month. My granddaughter is going back with me and my son, taking an "educational excursion". I found nonstop flights back for them, $42 each. I'm going to be busy but they can visit with my middle son and find other things to do, and I guess we'll go out a time or two. Knowing that I'll be leaving soon is both stressful and motivating. Mostly it's exciting. Truly, I can hardly wait.
