Family Night

I'm back online; my computer has remembered my mom's house network key -- which is good, because no one else knows it. And so now, I'm taking a short break from a very cozy gathering to write.

My eldest son is sitting next to me, my brother and youngest and eldest granddaughter are sitting on one sofa, my middle son and all three dogs are on the other sofa, and my youngest granddaughter and my brother's girlfriend are sitting at the hearth in front of a slow and gentle fire. It's been kind of a crazy night, but we've all been having a nice time. Tomorrow, the house purging starts -- or continues, depending on how you look at it.

My middle son and his girlfriend gave my granddaughters a kitten for Christmas, which they presented tonight. Everyone else knew and the kitten was spayed (and had her shots) on Thursday. The girls were thrilled; she is their first pet.

Tomorrow we'll get a tree and do the decorating, and maybe some baking too. There's nothing here to eat, so it was wonderful that my brother's girlfriend crafted a huge Italian meal for us all, right down to cannoli, everybody's favorite. Another busy day with more ahead.
