It's Also Good

In yesterday's post, I probably sounded like I couldn't stand to have my family around. That isn't the case at all. While it's true that I sometimes lack the patience to deal with small children, I do appreciate spending time with them. Today I took my nine-year-old granddaughter with me for mani-pedis; she chose neon yellow/green and I chose neon pink. We both left the salon looking and feeling fantastic. Of course, it was even better when we got home and my oldest and youngest sons made a big deal of how good our nails looked. They may have gone a bit overboard, but it was at least semi-sincere and all in good fun.

Despite the forecast of yet more rain, we headed out for the beach. There is perhaps nothing sweeter than children playing in the ocean when it is so new to them. My three-year-old granddaughter sat and built sandcastles until she got too hot, and then asked to go into the water to jump the waves -- only up to her ankles. My older granddaughter went farther out in the ocean with her dad and uncle for a long time. We stayed as long as we could, until the storms were about to hit, and then we headed out for some fresh seafood at a waterside restaurant.

Tomorrow they are heading home, and today couldn't have been better. I am babysitting tonight so the three brothers can hang out together; it's a rare opportunity. The house will be quiet tomorrow, and there will be less stuff in my floors. But life will also be a little less interesting and exciting -- until the next time.
