Tiny Animals

Yesterday I was looking for an old email from my youngest son, one in which he had pictures and prices of some books he wanted to get rid of. I had thought I might take them to my shelf, but I didn't feel like doing the research on prices. Running an internet search would likely have taken an hour at most; instead, I spent several hours reading old emails -- and I never found what I was looking for. I had a few nice moments strolling down memory lane -- and a few not-so-nice -- and I found one special treasure: a picture of my dog and her puppy when he was just born.

If there is anything cuter than a baby animal, I'm not sure what it is. It thrills me to no end that Jean-Claude remained a part of our family, and even though I don't want more than one of each -- a cat and a dog, and sometimes I'm not sure about the cat -- I like that Jean is a frequent visitor. He is staying with me this weekend, and he and Mazie are so sweet with each other. They snuggle and play, run in the yard and kiss each other. Here's what they look like now, Mazie on the left and Jean on the right, squeezed up against me on the sofa:

As you can see, Jean is much larger than Mazie. I have read that sometimes a standard can mix in with the mini, and I think that's what happened with my youngest son's dog (and Jean's dad), Angus. Mazie is a true mini. They are wonderful company, and some days the only "people" I talk to. I like having them around.
