The End of an Era

So to follow up on last night's post, I have left Fernando behind and moved on. I seriously almost cried as I left the Chevy lot in a 2015 Colorado, not because I don't like the newer vehicle a lot, but because I can't bear to think of life without my big boy. The one memory that sums up much of how I feel about (formerly) my Tahoe is that it was the place where my eldest granddaughter ate ice cream for the first time. I won't belabor the point. I think my love of Fernando has been sufficiently expressed. When I took him in for an oil change today and whatever else needed urgently to be fixed, I really didn't have an intention of leaving him and coming home with a different vehicle. But the AC issue alone would have cost over a thousand dollars to fix; the other problems would probably have been several thousand more . It was time -- but that doesn't make it easier. Here he is, at our parting.

You can see that his exterior is perfect. He is so big and handsome. My new vehicle does not have four-wheel-drive, seat heat, Bose speakers, a moon roof, or leather seats. That's fine. It does have working AC and it's eleven years younger. It has 18,000 miles on it, not bad for a used car. It has ample seating for five adults and is clean and functional. I'm sure I will come to love those attributes. I will leave you with a picture of the new guy, yet to be named. It's not a great picture. I'll post another one soon. You can see I was trying harder with Fernando's picture. And, yes, I'm happy that I was able to buy what I needed (I financed most of it); I'm just a little sad saying goodbye.
