It's 9:30 on a Sunday night, and I'm sitting in a hotel room in Savannah. Even though it isn't late, I'm about to fall over after spending the day running around town with my granddaughter. I can seriously barely keep my eyes open! We've had a good time, and I hope she remembers it fondly. In addition to walking along the riverfront (where I thought our hotel was but it turned out not to be), we went on the ghost tour, a hokey and melodramatic semi-adventure. It was a good way to see the city without driving around, and my granddaughter enjoyed the minor scariness and campiness of it. I wouldn't do it again, but it was fun.
We'll hang out in the morning and do a few things, then it's back to Jacksonville. My class meets on Tuesday (and I'll spend much of that day catching up on my work), we'll drop Mazie off with my son on Wednesday, and on Thursday we'll take our big trip up north. If we decide to stop along the way, we can -- no rush. I'm not sure whether I mentioned that my younger granddaughter's birthday is on July 30, so we'll get back in time for a little family party. I have to leave on Monday -- which seems like such a short trip, especially when I'm driving up and back -- so I'll be home in time for my class next Tuesday. After that, I'll stick close to home for a while. I've been on the road a lot again lately. Time to chill.
