Best Way Ever to Avoid Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day isn't a lot of fun when you're single. Or at least for me it isn't fun; I'm sure there are single people who find it to be a lot of fun. Sure, I like to send little cards and sometimes small gifts to my sons and granddaughters, but mostly the day is just a reminder that I'm alone in life, partnerless. Usually I don't care, but I've mentioned before that the time period from Thanksgiving through Valentine's Day is sometimes tough for those of us who are unattached.

Anyway, it hadn't occurred to me when I made my flight reservation that on Valentine's Day, or "VD" as I like to call it, I would be in the air part of the day and in a foreign country the remainder. I'm pretty sure Morocco doesn't celebrate the holiday, but I could be wrong. Yes, this would be a rather costly and inconvenient way to escape Valentine's Day, so in that regard, I don't recommend it. My situation just happened to work out that way. One bit of advice -- and this doesn't have anything to do with any particular holiday; I just happened to remember it now -- that I read was to take as little as possible in my suitcase so I'll have lots of room to bring home trinkets. I did say that I expect this to be my one and only visit to the three cities on my itinerary (Casablanca, Fez, and Marrakesh), so I will be selective in what I bring back, but not especially disciplined in buying things I really love and want.

Obviously, I'm rambling. I'll wish you an early Happy Heart Day while I'm thinking of it.
