What Do Grown-ups Do for NYE?

Or maybe the better way to ask that is, "What do semi-old people do for New Year's Eve?" I have no interest in going out. I was going to have a few friends in, but my headache is making its nearly-daily appearance. I don't feel like doing anything. As far as holidays go, it seems like an important one to celebrate. Letting go of the old year and welcoming the new is both healthy and hopeful. There's no reason I can't do that alone, but I often think of an old friend's words: "Whatever you're doing at midnight on New Year's Eve is what you'll spend most of that new year doing." Many years this has rung true, but in my fifty-five years I've slept through a few year-turning midnights, and I didn't end up sleeping the whole year.

I'm going to think of my NYE downtime as a preparation time for the big things coming in 2017. I did a lot of good things in 2016 and a part of many others; I'm set a good foundation for even better things in the coming year. I hope whether you stay in or go out, rest or party up, that you ring in 2017 in your favorite way!
