Analogous

Well, maybe not precisely. I was thinking this mornng that if I can sustain a daily blog for over five years (when I started off with a three-month goal), I should be able to apply the same discipline to working out. My plan, which will start tomorrow, is to do some kind of exercise for thirty minutes every day for the remainder of the month. I get that exercising daily is not the same as writing daily; for one thing, it's nice and cool in my living room as I write. It's hot outside! I do still have a gym membership but, as silly as it sounds, I feel too out-of-shape to go. However, for the remainder of this month, if the weather is super-hot or rainy, I will do something physical indoors, at home or at the gym, depending on . . . something. I'm not sure what. I started to write "depending on my energy level," but part of what I'm hoping to achieve through exercise is to increase my energy level. As far as the gym part goes, I'll see how that goes. Maybe after nearly a month of working out, I'll be ready to go to the gym again.

The other part of my plan, which ties in my hoped-for results, is to write briefly in a notebook just after working out. I want to keep a record of what I did and how I felt. Wish me luck as I start this journey. I've heard that anything you do every day for twenty-seven days becomes a habit. I have no doubt that's how I became "blogpost-addicted". Several years ago, when I was in great shape, I worked out five times a week without fail. I'm not going for intensity, just for consistency. This could be life-changing!
