Jabba the Blogger

Oh, golly! I need to reign it back in, foodwise. I can't undo all my hard work of losing weight. In the past few days, I've taken in probably at least one and a half times my usual daily calorie count (maybe double one of those days). Family time means food time, and I'm sure that's true in other families too. Yesterday we had a small breakfast at our hotel, and a few hours later we met up with the guys for brunch. We scavenged a bit for dinner -- I haven't been keeping much food in the house while I'm waiting (and waiting) to have my kitchen redone -- and ended up going out for burgers, and at 10:30 last night we ordered pizza. That was a bad idea -- I had indigestion all night -- but it was so delicious!

This morning, in what I'm hoping to establish as a weekly routine, I went to the beach with my friend for our Sunday walk. My elder granddaughter went with us this time, and she had a blast. Breakfast and exercise on a beautiful morning may offset some of my "dietary indiscretions". I can't even remember what I've eaten today, but I've felt like eating everything in sight. My oldest and youngest sons have gone out to bring back Japanese food; that should be more healthy than most of what we've been eating, but tomorrow I have to go back to cooking. It's hard to track restaurant food, and honestly I don't include everything on my tracker when I'm going off-course.

In a little over a week, family vacation will be over. My oldest son and granddaughters will go back up north, my youngest will go back to Winter Park to live with a few of his school buddies, and my middle son and his girlfriend and I will all go back to working too much. In other words, we'll all be back to business as usual. Even though I worry about gaining some weight back, I probably shouldn't. My focus right now is on having fun with my family, and if that includes overeating on and off for a few weeks, I'll roll with it. There's plenty of time after that to get back to salads and exercise.
