No, that's not a song title, but it is a phrase from a Pink Floyd song. Finally, I'm not working -- although I did a four-hour shift this morning -- and it's a crappy weather day. It isn't as hot as it has been, but it's gray and cloudy. I don't think we ever got the big storm that was predicted last night; instead this slow rain is (hopefully) bringing in probably-brief relief from the heat. I'm actually making good use of the time, going through mail (my biggest clutter problem) and cleaning out the kitchen cabinets. And we really do need the rain. Still, there's something depressing about the grayness. As with most things, I'm trying to see the bigger picture: It's good for my lawn and decorative plants, and everything is so fresh after a good rain.
Between de-cluttering and emptying cabinets, I'm working on finishing a very large blanket I've been crocheting for months. It's a graduation gift for my young associate, only a month late! I haven't seen him since graduation, and I know he'll be delighted with the gift. Once it's finished -- which will be tonight or tomorrow -- I'll text him and ask him to stop by when he has a chance. Then I'll move on to my next project, which I think will be a baby dress and matching hat. None of my stuff is selling at the booth in the vintage store downtown, so I may have to rethink that expense. I'm not sure what the policy is on removing items once they've been put on the shelf, but at this point I think I'd have a better chance of selling my handmade items on Etsy.
It would be so easy to drift off into a nap, and I just might do that. The sky is only getting darker; I don't think yard work is in my immediate future. On the other hand, it would feel great to get at least one task completed. So blanket first, laundry done and put away second, and cabinets emptied third. I have a lot of cabinets, so I may not finish that task today, but the other two shouldn't be a big problem. Here I go, off to be productive!
