Or at least I do. I've been working every day for over a week, some days not full-time, some days "double-time". I haven't been feeling great for a while, which I'm sure has to do with the mold spores drifting through my house, but this morning it was really bad. I was supposed to start working at 8:15, and I was out of many grocery items. Around 7:00 this morning, I made a quick grocery trip. I already knew I had a fever, but I bucked up and took some Advil and got on with it. The entire time I was in the grocery store -- which was probably only fifteen minutes but felt like hours -- I seriously thought I was going to pass out. I was breaking out in a sweat every time I moved and feeling worse by the second. I've been working a lot so I can pay for a nice family celebration trip in honor of my youngest son's graduation, but today I just took the day off. Well, that's not entirely accurate; since I had a roster of test raters working under me today, I called my company and told them what was going on but that I would stay until they could get my raters on other rosters. I hung around maybe an hour and fifteen minutes, during which time I was actually working but also waiting to leave for my doctor's appointment.
As I suspected, I have a raging sinus infection. I'm not working the rest of the day, other than possibly grading a few papers later this afternoon. (That's part of a different job.) My doctor told me to rest, and prescribed an antibiotic and steroid to help heal me up. I don't always take his advice (and he knows it) but today I will. As soon as I finish writing this, I'm going to lie down with the cool air blowing on me, hopefully without mold spores. We've had record-breaking heat here, so if I'd been choosing a day to "play hooky" and goof off, today wouldn't have been it. Now that I'm back with my meds, I have no intention of leaving my house again until my class meets tomorrow night. I'm hoping after just one day of rest and medicine, I'll be better than new. Cheers.
