Working in a Coal Mine

Okay, so my living room isn't exactly a coal mine -- although it's probably about as dusty as one after my crazy schedule this week. What made me think of this song today, as I came off my last shift in a six-day sixty-four-hour work week, is this part of the song: "Lord, I am so tired! How long can this go on?" The answer is -- no longer! I just couldn't resist that $100/per eight-hour day bonus, especially with my vacation next week. It was hard, and I am totally exhausted, but now it's over and I'm glad I did it, even with the dissertation coming in for an edit right in the middle. I have a cashier's check in my purse for that job, and the money from this long bonus week will hit two days after I get home from my trip.

I would write more, about coal mines or about work, but I really am wiped out. For some reason, I've been craving meatloaf of all things (the food, not the musician), so I'm going to make myself a nice meatloaf for dinner. Unfortunately, I have nothing to fix with it. I think I have applesauce. That sounds just fantastic. On to that and then a lot of rest.
