Somewhere over the Rainbow

I will be brief: I feel as if I've died and gone to Heaven, if there is such a place. If there is, surely it must look like my Cabo resort: white sand, blue skies, crystal-clear swimming pools, and it goes on and on. Meals are laid out buffet style but without the usual shriveled-looking vegetables and overcooked meats. Everything is fresh, and freshly cooked. And I can have as much as I want of whatever I want. White-clad waiters walk around the grounds asking if they can get me -- well, not just me, of course -- anything at all. I had a mojito poolside while I soaked up the sun. Because my hotel is all-inclusive, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when it came to what "all" included, but it seriously is everything! Guests are not only discouraged, but forbidden, from leaving tips. Even my internet access (which is the one thing not included) came to $25 for five days after my guest discount.

The time difference is disorienting me a little, as is having gotten up at 2:30 to get to the airport on time. I'm going to do my best to stay up past 9:00 this evening so I'm not awake at 4:00 tomorrow morning. At the moment, I'm taking a respite from the intense sun. Even though I do live in Florida, I haven't gotten any sun time in for quite a while, and I don't want to burn to a crisp on my first day here. I put on 30 spf sunscreen, but these tropical rays beat through that in no time, especially I'm sure because I was in the pool and then lying next to the pool. I may go back out again when the sun starts to drop. One of the people I met while I was swimming said the pool stays open quite late. Until I go back out, whether it's to the pool or elsewhere, I'm going to enjoy this amazing feeling of -- wait, what's it called? oh yeah -- vacation!
