Our local beaches don't have boardwalks; they have "sea walks", which are really just sidewalks near the beach. I guess boardwalks are more of a northern thing. I've never seen one in Florida. Anyway, this weekend is our annual Opening of the Beaches, and the weather is not so great. (In case you're wondering, the beaches never close. It's just some weird tradition.) Even with the bad weather -- cloudy, not stormy -- the traffic at the Beaches was heavy yesterday and today. Usually I wouldn't go anywhere I knew traffic would be thick, but last night I had a hair appointment, and earlier in the week I told my friend I'd come hang out with her during her yard sale. She lives about six blocks from the ocean.
I love the beach and our weird traditions, and even the Jacksonville Beach Seawalk. (Neptune Beach is the closer one to me, the one I go to if I want to take a quick walk. It has brick sidewalks but no sea walk.) Still, I don't go to most of the festivals at the Beaches (Neptune, Atlantic, Jacksonville, and Ponte Vedra) because I can't stand the crowds and traffic. The one I do always go to is Dancing in the Streets in Neptune. My son's band has played there every year for (I think) the last four.
Okay, I'll just stop there. For the most part I've been really enjoying my Blog Song Title challenge, but today I'm not hitting on all cylinders. I thought I was going somewhere with this but it didn't turn out that way. It happens. I'll be back with something a bit more cohesive and developed tomorrow.
