That was my dinner last night and probably not one I'll have again. I woke up around 1:30 in the morning with the worst indigestion, and I never get indigestion. It was miserable, and I regretted my meal choice well into the day. Certainly that selection was not what the doctor had in mind when he put me on a "cardiac diet". But I was craving both so bad! My main rule of healthy eating is to avoid bringing foods that aren't good for me into the house. Usually I succeed at that, but yesterday I was Easter shopping -- which doesn't really explain the pizza, but does account for the bunny -- and I should have known that I couldn't be trusted alone in the house with chocolate for even two days.
The pizza was cheese, and I chopped an onion up to put on top, but it did have a lot of cheese on it. The brand was Screamin' Sicilian; who could resist that, especially when they were on sale for two dollars off and I had a digital coupon for a dollar off? I hadn't necessarily intended to eat it the same night. It's just good to have something easy to fix on hand for busy days. Yesterday wasn't particularly busy, but as I said my mouth was watering for that pizza from the minute I saw it.
As for the bunnies, I had gotten just enough for me and each of my Easter guests to have one. However, after buying them I decided to invite my young associate and his girlfriend over too, so that meant buying more bunnies. If I had to go buy more anyway . . . well, I might as well just go ahead and enjoy one. And in the moment, I did enjoy it. At first, it was just the ears. I might have stopped at the head if that dark Dove chocolate hadn't been so addictive. Before I knew it, nothing was left of Mr. Bunny except the gold foil. Now I have re-stocked; we're good for Easter. No one will be the wiser and my diet today has been much more gentle -- low-fat, no sugar, high protein. I didn't gain weight over the fall and winter holidays, and even though I might go a little wild tomorrow I'm hoping to stay on my losing track. (I lost another pound and a half last week, even after upping my daily calories a little bit.) I'll enjoy the cake I'm making -- one slice -- and send all leftovers home with my guests. It's just too easy -- and uncomfortable -- to get off track.
