It's a beautiful but slightly chilling day in North Florida, a bit too cold (and breezy) for the beach, but plenty pleasant for sitting on the porch soaking up some sun. I am wearing long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, socks, and fuzzy slippers. The sun feels so good. I have at least a hundred things I should be doing rather than lounging on my porch, but I'm giving myself the day off. I don't feel like fighting with insurance companies, prepping for my class, decluttering the garage, doing my taxes, or dealing with any of the other ninety-six or so agenda-items on my list.
Porches are one of humankind's best inventions, in my opinion. Ideally, part of my porch would be screened or at least covered, but today -- when it's too chilly for biting bugs -- it doesn't matter. My orbital lounger is the perfect place to lie back and enjoy the clear blue sky. Yes, I'm engaging in a bit of escapism, but that's not always a bad thing.
