Maybe Next Year

At this point, I've determined that there are some things I won't get done by Christmas. I sort of lost the little bit of steam I had after we had our "psuedo-Christmas" on Sunday, and really most of the undone things should have been done before then. For the first time in the nearly ten years I've lived in my house, I bought outdoor lights to put up. They're still in my garage, along with the huge inflatable penguin I bought more than five years ago to put in my mom's yard. She really liked penguins. It's made probably five trips back and forth, and has never been inflated. I'll probably just give that to Goodwill.

When we bought our Christmas tree, I gathered greens to make wreaths. Now they are turning brown on my back porch plant rack. They will go out with the yard debris on Thursday. I have lots of cool wreath-making stuff: two twisted-vine bases, seashells, ornaments, a plaid bow, and a rope-type bow for my beachy wreath. I even bought a new cordless glue gun. Again, the materials will wait and I'll try to get to it early next year for Christmas. I had some other craft items to make, but one thing I learned this year is that late summer isn't soon enough to start on Christmas crafts. I will finish all the cardigans up (and, by the way, my granddaughters loved theirs and looked so cute in them) but I may take a month or two off before starting any other gifts or decorations.

What I feel worst about not finishing is getting my Christmas cards out. I did all my envelopes but never got the cards written. Those too will wait until next year. Thank goodness for Forever stamps!
