Mission Impossible

Once again, we had a group coming to help clear out the last of the furniture -- and have been rained out. Time is running out; I leave on Tuesday. The pool is going to require additional parts to run properly. I've been doing my best to get everything finished -- without any help -- and I'm feeling very frustrated. I was going to sell my mom's bedroom furniture but found a charitable group to donate it to, and I knew I had made the right choice when the volunteers who came to get it said, "Sometimes we take items to a home and the people have literally no furniture." The small amount of money I would have gotten from selling the bedroom suite wouldn't have given me nearly the amount of satisfaction I got from knowing someone would get it who really needed it. And I'm not going to lie: having someone come and get it out of there was a huge relief. It was heavy and cumbersome and would have been a huge pain to move.

Finding reliable help has been difficult. Finding even unreliable help has been difficult! Everyone is at work all day and/or isn't interested. It's been raining when I've been able to go. This probably sounds crazy, but I'm starting to look forward to getting home and having my foot surgery. Really, I'm just looking forward to going home. Managing two households (and helping with a third, my son's) -- although I'm not sure my mom's counts as an actual household since there's no one living there -- is so hard to keep up with. Here's hoping it lasts only a few more months.
