As I've been organizing my house, I've come across many projects I started -- and left forgotten and undone. I have at least nine crochet items, or more precisely I have yarn that has begun to be crafted into something. In some cases, the pattern is with the yarn; in others, I can't tell what I had planned. I do know that apart from the yarn I started to make something with, there is also so much I will likely never use and have been intending to sell on eBay for a long time. Maybe I'll take care of that when I return from my trip. My oldest son -- an experienced eBayer -- says it's best to post for a minimum of one week, ending on a weekend. Since I'm traveling a week from Tuesday, I wouldn't have time to do that and ship the item(s) in a timely manner. Certainly I can take the photos and set the yarn aside, then post it while I'm gone and ship it when I return. One problem solved.
Early this morning I started on a cardigan for my granddaughter. I'm making matching sweaters for both of the girls in their favorite color, purple. I can probably finish the first one tomorrow and will start on the next one right away. I'm making them with yarn I've had sitting around since the oldest was about two. (She's almost eleven now.) With this yarn too, I don't know exactly why I bought it, but I know it was to make something for her. This time, my procrastination worked for me. The yarn is perfect for a new pattern a found with a title that's perfect for both granddaughters: Sassy Girl's Shrug.
The hardest unfinished project I've encountered is a partially-made afghan I was making for my mother when she died. I don't want to finish it. I will put it -- and all the yarn I had planned to use on it -- in the Goodwill bag. I have several bags ready to go, and getting that out of my room not only will clear up space, but also will be good for my psyche. Suddenly it occurs to me that I could say the same thing about most of what I'm saving/storing/holding onto.
