Tonight was the fourth annual awards ceremony for the teen group I'm involved with, and my second year as a member of the board. I'm not sure why, but planning information was slow in coming this year. Still, I managed to help from eight hundred miles away. In fact, I think I did better with that than I've done with anything I've tried to do in the immediate area since I've been up here. Today was one of those days when I felt like my best efforts were thwarted every step of the way. I kept getting interrupted at every turn. I'm halfway through my time here and it doesn't seem I have accomplished much. I go to my mom's house with the best of intentions -- then I walk in and look around and it seems hopeless.
One of my duties for the event was to write a script. When I first became aware that the board did this, I had no idea what it meant. Essentially, it's a timeline with speaker notes and (I'm not sure what else to call it) choreography, where everyone should be and what each person should say at what time. Now that I've scripted two events, I think it's a great idea. Maybe scripting the house purge/cleaning/yard work/so many other things would be helpful. And I wouldn't even have to change colors (on my event script, I coded each speaker's part in a different color); I'm the only one who will be working the ready-the-house-for-sale event.
