Retraction

I feel bad about dissing my little cat in a recent blogpost. She really is a sweet cat; she had just been on my nerves that day. I took her to the vet today and it turns out she has a skin condition of unknown origin, as well as a neurotic habit of overgrooming. I probably didn't need a vet to tell me either of those things, but the vet also said that Sophia's extremely needy behavior might stem from her having been weaned too early. This made me realize that -- because I got Sophia from a shelter -- I know nothing of her early life. For all I know, her mother abandoned her, or some even worse catasrophe (with emphasis on "cat") struck her in her early life. Tonight, as I'm dosing Sophia with antibiotics and anti-OCD meds, I am a much more compassionate pet mom.
