My neighborhood doesn't plan many activities for residents, which is disappointing given the fairly high homeowners' fee I pay each year. I suppose that goes toward maintaining the common grounds and the pool, all of which are lovely. I didn't go to the pool once this year; it closed last weekend. This is the only place I've lived in Florida where the pool isn't open year 'round. Anyway, yesterday or the day before I received an email saying that there would be four food trucks at the recreation area tonight. Apparently food trucks are becoming trendy; I'm usually running at a two- to three-year lag on trends, so I've only recently found this out. But I was intrigued enough to head down to the parking lot to check them out.
Among the kinds of food offered were Italian, BBQ, something called Son-of-a-Butcher, and I'm not sure about the last one. There was something called GuanaNana (I think) that was selling frozen treats, but it wasn't technically a truck. I went for Italian. Having great difficulty deciding between the beef and the sausage, I asked the vendor. He suggested the beef. The description implied it would be delicious, but I was unimpressed. However, it came with homemade gorgonzola-balsamic potato chips. Those were indeed delicious. I ate only half of each item. In fact, I ate less than half of the beef and gave Mazie the rest of the half. I've been doing really well with eating healthy food all week -- until today. I guess it wasn't so bad. I'll chalk it up to a new experience, and stick with salads and my own cooking.
