Fine Jail Time

Now, I know that what the road sign really meant was that speeding in a work zone is punishable by fines and/or imprisonment, but that's not what it said. Here's what was on the marquee:

FINE JAIL TIME
A LIFE
SLOW DOWN

And then, as the sign changed:

WORK ZONE
SPEEDING A
COSTLY MISTAKE

It's a strange kind of poetry -- or not. I found it amusing. There isn't much to do as one drives hundreds of miles on I-95. The area of Florida between New Smyrna and West Palm Beach is much more desolate than I had realized. Until New Smyrna, exits are close together and many businesses are visible from the highway. After that, 95 drops down to two lanes each way and there's nothing to see. Instead of looking, I found poetry in road signs. And I didn't go to jail, even though the Department of Highways promotes it as a "fine time".
